On Wednesday, the RiverDogs faced the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Every hitter in the RiverDogs lineup reached base safely at least once, leading to a 7-5 win. The game was played in front of a crowd of 2,605, and the RiverDogs emerged victorious in the first two games of the series by a combined three runs.
Walk-Off Blast Against Woodpeckers
Earlier in the week, the RiverDogs celebrated a walk-off win against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. Ricardo Gonzalez, the RiverDogs shortstop, turned 20 years old on Saturday and celebrated by grounding a base hit through the left side of the infield, plating the winning run in a wild 11-10 extra-inning affair.
Shutout Win Over Columbia Fireflies
The RiverDogs also enjoyed a one-sided 8-0 shutout victory over the Columbia Fireflies. Three RiverDogs pitchers combined to limit the Fireflies to just two hits in the victory, recording their seventh shutout win of the season.
Suspended Game Against Woodpeckers
The RiverDogs and Woodpeckers had their Friday night game at Segra Stadium suspended by rain after two innings. The suspended game will resume at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday with the RiverDogs trailing 3-1 in the top.
Series Split Against Fireflies
On Friday night, the RiverDogs worked 11 walks to earn a 7-1 win over the Columbia Fireflies, guaranteeing at least a series split against the Fireflies.
Refreshed from All-Star Break
The RiverDogs have enjoyed a second-half surge, taking over possession of first place in the Carolina League South Division. They faced the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in a crucial six-game series from July 23-28, which included Swampy Joe Night on Wednesday.
